Round trip petrol (R300) + Hotel Accommodation (R650) + Race Entry Fee (R50)= Running 11k for 2011 at the Pretoria Botanical Gardens (and having someone to take photos)...Priceless!

A healthy and fun way to start the new year is at the Pretoria

When I first learned about the New Year's Day race, the concept of running a race on New Year's Day was rather appealing. On the other hand, the thought of being any where/being in running shape after a night of partying "'til the morning comes (Thanks DJ Sbu circa 2008)" made me have second thoughts. Today, with my thinking cap tuned up (and guilt in my heart), the fact that I've slacked off tremendously on my training over the past month, and in light of my newly minted New Year's Resolutions...I just have to do it! ...And as the advert above agrees, what a "healthy and fun way to start the new year"! Plus, I'll get to take in all of the beautiful summer plant life as I run!
I am looking forward to starting the new year off right, with a new attitude, and a proven and renewed commitment (to myself) to prepare for March 20th (and my overall healthy lifestyle goal).
Until next time, Dear Reader, Couch Potato #2 and I would like to wish you a very HAPPY, SAFE, & HEALTHY NEW YEAR!!!
One foot in front of the other...keep it movin'!!!!
Yours in (celebration, healthy mind/body/attitude, 11km running) training,
Dani

Hey, if I was in Pretoria, which would be nice, I'd be running with you. What a great day for a run. Dave
