Needless to say, tis been waaaaaaaaay too long since I've updated my blog and for no good reason (only lame excuses that shame me to even think of them) at all. Simply put, my running career is in serious need of resuscitation! As in...life support. Code Red! Code Red!
Since I feel the need to say something, I'm going to go ahead and say all of the excuses I've been trying to pass off as truth for the past two weeks (my dear grandmother is turning over in her grave as we speak!):
- It's cold outside
- It's only light around 6-something am and I need to prepare for work
- It's dark outside by 5-something pm and it's just not safe
- Running on the treadmill at the gym will reduce my stamina
- It's sooooo warm in my bed
- Work has been working me to death lately
- OMG, I haven't run these hills in a minute...I'll have to hang my head in shame and walk (gasp) back home
- I'm trying to figure out my life here!
- Umm...
- Errr.....
- Yeah....
- So....
- Well......
I'm in need of an intervention, Dear Reader! I need some super strong good vibes and a swift kick in the seat to get me back to my glory days (read: pre-GA marathon). Now don't get me wrong, just because I've not been pavement pounding lately doesn't mean my mind hasn't been focused on running. I think about it all of the time. I feel bad that I'm not doing it. I feel lame that my own mantra "one foot in front of the other...keep it movin'" has done me absolutely.no.good.at.all!
It's time for a change, Dear Reader, no excuses! This NEEDS TO HAPPEN! Plus, I'm missing my runner's body and no longer want to keep company with the extra "winter weight" I've been adding on. So, without further adieu, here's my new race schedule:
- Daveyton Brakpan Half Marathon & 10 km- June 19th;
- Dinamika Springbok Vasbyt 25 km- July 16th; and
- The Victoria Falls Marathon- August 28th
So if you're still out there, friend, send me some of your good vibrations AND some motivational comments to get me out there and on the road!
Until next time...

Yours in (gotta get my mojo back) training,
Dani
